"Minutemen's" quiet vigil

The borders are completely out of control and the Minutemen are forcing this nation to deal with an issue that is of vital importance. They have accomplished their mission and hopefully their numbers and influence will continue to grow if the US government won't do their job.

But as much as an exercise in do-it-yourself border security, the event has become a rallying point for a national anti-immigrant movement that is gaining steam after years on the political margins.

The event has drawn participants from all over the country, each carrying stories of communities transformed as the number of illegal immigrants in the U.S. has climbed to more than 9 million, the great majority impoverished Spanish speakers.
